Retirement Village Payung Belanda
We, a group of seniors from the Netherlands and Indonesia, have devised a plan to establish a "Retirement Village” , a residential community for seniors, in Bali.
This (temporary) website aims to provide information to those who wish to be involved in this project, whether as future tenants or buyers.
Our Objective is:
To create a Private Retirement Village,
with individual retirement homes
where residents can rent, or buy a home including plot of land,
where residents can spend their pension years, in a Resort-Style Retirement Village
where they can enjoy the company of other seniors,
and enjoy the various services that we provide.
The village includes 55 houses. The site will also include a Recreation Studio, Swimming Pool, Midget Golf track, Spa, convenience-shop, and an Aula/Restaurant, that also will be used for general purposes, (events, meeting, etc.)
Alternatives?
Pension homes that we envisage and as describe, do not exist in Bali. Therefore, we take this initiative to start this Pension Home ourselves. We hope you will join us.
The Motivation
We are acquainted with many seniors, both from Indonesia and the Netherlands, who wish to relish their Pension-Time in Bali.
Our target demographic audience consists of upper middle-class, self-reliant seniors, who have some connection to Indonesia.
The Concept
The concept is inspired by the Residential Community Concept for seniors, that SIOH.nl has implemented in Haarlem the Netherlands, a place where seniors can spend their autumn days, meet, reminisce, enjoy familiar company, and support each other.
The residential community is for anyone aged 55 and over and who are self-reliant.
Future residents consciously choose this type of housing, and are willing to actively contribute to the community's operations. This means that residents not only benefit from the advantages of communal living but also take responsibility and participate in the community.
Key aspects of an active resident:
Involvement and participation: Active residents are involved in the living group and participate in shared activities.
Mutual support and solidarity: A key principle of our living group is that residents care for and support each other. Active residents are willing to lend a helping hand, for example, by running errands for a sick resident or by helping with household chores.
Tolerance and clear agreements: To live well together, tolerance, solidarity, and clear agreements are essential. Active residents contribute to making and adhering to these agreements.
Maintaining independence and privacy: Although there is a strong emphasis on community, each resident maintains their own independence and privacy. Active residents respect each other's personal space and boundaries.
Motivation and intrinsic drive: Active residents are driven by a strong intrinsic motivation to form a community and contribute. They want to combat loneliness and live with like-minded people.
The iresidents participate in event planning.
Therefore, you are invited to volunteer, if you would want to share your skills, knowledge and expertise.
There are a lot of things to do, such as: Planning trips, or giving lectures, Bridge lessons, Chess, and Line-dance, Yoga, just to name a few.
You can also volunteer in our Organic Garden, where we grow our own herbs voor the restaurant, and for your own use.
December 24: An initial site assessment of the plot of land we have chosen, gives a negative outcome.
There is a small river, (named Tukad Kutul) next to our planned property, and the local regulation states that construction is prohibited within 50 meters of the riverside. The length of the river connected to our planned property is 110 meters, meaning we will have 55 are of unusable land.
This implies that we will must find a site, adjacent to our intended plot.
These coming weeks we will have talks with the landowners to look for alternatives.
November 19: Most votes ar for the name Payung Belanda, and the Icon that is in the banner above. We will change the name of this website, as soon as this webiste is formalized, and published to the general public.
November 17:
We recieved a new suggestion for a new name: Payung Belanda, including Logo.
November 16:
We received a suggestion for the name: Kampoeng Holland,
However, the name and icon with the Mill, is too similar to the Holland Bakery chain.
This is a No-Go
November 12:
We were informed that we are not allowed to register our intended name "Kampoeng Belanda", as the name is already reserved.
Here are the suggestions that we recieved:
Kampoeng Kenangan
Puri, or Kampung Wirasatira
Taman Belanda (Hollands Hof) is another suggestion we received.
De Kampoeng
However, most of us find that the word "Belanda" is kind of our signature, and should be in the name.
Let us know what you think.
Nov 2025:
We have selected our future builder. They are ready whenever we give a 'go'.
